RUN FOR RIO

Our Principal Thiru. K. Francis had flagged off the ‘Run for Rio’ here on Sunday as a means to encourage the Indian contingent at the Olympics beginning on August 5.

The 5km run, from IGPTC, Mahe to the Walkway, Mahe, was meant to express the nation’s support to the Indian athletes at Rio.

Sports minister Vijay Goel, whose ministry organised the event, said the government would focus on providing facilities and sports infrastructure at the grassroots level, especially, for indigenous and popular sports.

Asserting that the 119 Indian athletes who have qualified for the Olympics have done so after a lot of trials, Modi said that they were not just there as individuals but as upholders of the pride of 125 crore Indians.

YOGA

    Yoga is a Sanskrit word derived from the Sanskrit root "yuj" which means to connect, join or balance. The definition of Yoga is "an ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation". 

 

      Yoga is a type of exercise in which you move your body into various positions in order to become more fit or flexible, to improve your breathing, and to relax your mind.

      Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in ancient India. The word, yoga, comes from the Sanskrit yuj, which means “to yoke” and "samadhi" or "concentration." Asana -Meaning “seat” and referring to the physical posture needed for meditation.

NSS CELL

​

     A permanent youth program for the students to develop their personality through social service. NSS volunteers have effectively participated in the renewable energy campaigns. Apart from that, campus are held in the institution where attempts are made to improve the condition of the nearby places.

​

     Blood donation camps, cleaning up different places (Swachh Abhayan), participation in campaigns and various such activities fill the calendar of the NSS volunteers.
