HISTORY

                 Indira Gandhi Polytechnic College, Mahe established under PIPMATE, Puducherry in October 2000 was initially named as Mahe Polytechnic, Mahe. ​​Govt. of Puducherry has renamed the institution as Indira Gandhi Polytechnic College, Mahe. The college was functioning temporarily in Rajiv Gandhi Govt. ITI campus from 19.10.2000 to 20.08.2012. The college has shifted to its own campus at Pondayat Kunnu, Chalakkara, Mahe, Post New Mahe from 21.08.2012. Govt. of Puducherry had acquired land to the extent of 04.16 Acre at Chalakkara, Mahe for construction of new building for the institution. The construction of the building was entrusted with the Public Works Department, Mahe.​​​ The new building was formally inaugurated on 08.01.2011.

            The main Objective of the institution is to promote Technical Education in Mahe. The College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). This is the one of the finest college in Mahe region.
